Where's the benefit?
Description: page 2 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 600 to 623Summary: Last week two newspapers approached Rotarians for advertisements in their Rotary "Classified Section". Are these ads supposed to help the Club, or are they good advertising for the members who hesitate to say "No"? It would seem, off hand, that all they do is increase the advertising revenue of the papers at the expense of members who pay for the ads in the belief that Club benefits because of this publicity. Certainly, the value of such an advertisement to the member is slight, if any. As to the Club as a whole, the publicity is negligible, and for those members who do not like that type of advertising there may be a certain amount of embarrassment in saying "No" to the papers' solicitors. Would it not be beneficial for the Board of Directors to take up this question and advise the membership whether such advertising is looked upon favorably or should be discouraged?Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
