TY - SER AU - Del Rosario, Ernie TI - Editorial : : Philippine tourism N1 - The Rotary Balita no. 678 (August 16, 1951) N2 - An industry which was hitting its stride when war broke out in 1941 is being revived. The government has declared August 13 to September 12 Tourist Promotion Month and has set up an organization expected to rehabilitate and revitalize tourism in the Philippines. If attracting tourists to this country was desirable before the war, it has become not only more so but even a necessary phase of the national effort. In this age of the United Nations and closer international relations, tourism is one of the best means of drawing peoples of different nations closer to one another. Many attractions of the Philippines have acquired historic significance. This added to their natural beauty has made this country a "must" for all travelers. In the case of American tourists particularly, the Philippines has become a place of added interest. Fil-American history has been linked and forged on Bataan and Corregidor and the many other historic spots made immortal by the common effort during the war. Rotary's activities fall into the pattern of the objectives of tourism. We should do our share to promote it ER -
