Report of meetings : January 6, 1949 - page 5-6

The Rotary Balita no. 612 (January 13, 1948)

The closed meeting of January 6, was a "let your hair down session." Main feature of the meeting was a reaffirmation of the Club's preference to sponsor projects alone and not in conjunction with other civic organizations. Upon Gil Puyat's motion however, it was agreed that the consent of the members would first be obtained if, due to special circumstances, it was found necessary to co-sponsor a project with another organization. Ben Legarda brought the matter to a head by inquiring into the disposition of the funds which Rotarians paid for their seats in the so-called "Rotary" night at the Boys' Town Carnival. Several members expressed their concern over the fact that only a small percentage of the receipts went to Boys' Town. The launching of the Honesty Campaign was announced by committee Chairman Monching del Rosario. Very active members of his committee are, "Yan" Yanson, who will handle educational institutions, Charlie Hirst, in charge of Business houses and Max Hernandez and Cris Concepcion who will tackle the government firms. The Campaign is properly labeled Honesty Recognition Campaign. During the campaign period of January 15 to February 15, an intensive drive will be conducted to have all outstanding acts of honesty in 1948 reported to the Committee, for proper recognition and commendation." Suggestions are welcome. Attendance percentage was a good 80%.
