TY - SER TI - Report of meetings : : December 8, 1949 N1 - The Rotary Balita no. 636 (December 22, 1949) N2 - This week being "Boys' & Girls' Week," the club invited the boy mayor to say a few words to the overgrown boys. The short talk was quite candid, but eye-opening. All about democracy and our duties as officials or as private citizens, "from the mouth of babes..." so said the Bible. The guest of honor (Dr. Manuel Carreon, Director of Private Schools) appealed for the right valuation of the man power that the youth of any country and any age stands for. Reminding us of the fact that under Hitler, Mussolini & Stalin, the youth organizations in the three countries constituted the kernel for the plans of the governments, Director Carreon ventured to suggest that we must equally prepare our own youths to combat the ideologies of the youth of other countries. By tracking the ways of democracy and peace to our youth we might yet succeed in combating the opposite ideals inculcated in the fascist youth. As Director Carreon put it: and while we may only postpone off wars for the present, with a universal understanding among the youth of the world, we may in due time achieve peace. ER -
