TY - BOOK TI - MANOLING'S FINALE N2 - MANOLING'S FINALE Over the radio all of Manila seems to have listened to our newest Honorary member, His Excellency, the President of the Philippines, Elpidio Quirino, deliver the address of the evening at the last meeting of the Rotary year in the Pavilion of the Manila Hotel on June 24. The subject was the State of the Nation. The gist of the speech was that we must tread lightly and avoid abrupt and violent movements for fear of disastrous consequences. The Speaker indulged in analogies and other figures of speech to illustrate his point, and to add a humorous touch to his remarks. The entrance of the President, escorted by his staff, and high Government officials, with the audience standing at attention, was accompanied by the playing of the National Anthem. Ned Hall, in his usual masterful way, led the audience in the singing of our Rotary songs and special numbers dedicated to the daughter of the President, and to our Rotary Anns. President Manoling in his most gracious and pleasing manner introduced those seated at the head table ER -
