THE GOLDEN YEAR IS HERE! Yes, Rotary's great Golden Anniversary observ- ance officially gets underway on February 23rd. when 400,000 Rotarians in 89 countries throughout the free world begin to celebrate the founding of Rotary. From now through the memorable Chica- go Convention at the latter part of May, there will be special Rotary anniversary activities in more than 8,400 communities on all six continents. Many countries have honored our organization through the issuance of special postage stamps commemorating Rotary's Golden Anniversary, and additional countries are completing their plans for similar stamps. Rotary's dramatic motion picture, "The Great Adventure", starring Edward Arnold, is having simultaneous premiere showings this month in three languages in 80 countries. Some 500 Rotary Clubs have arranged to broad-east a series of 13 weekly Golden Anniversary programs over their local radio stations and there will be a number of network radio and television salutes to Rotary. Several magazine articles on the Golden Anniversary are being prepared --the first one announced being a five-page feature in Look Magazine for February 22nd entitled "Rotary -- Big Wheel of the Service Clubs." Many Rotary Clubs are arranging special Golden Anniversary sections in their local newspapers. Yes, Rotary's Golden Year is here. Its observance not only will give the general public an in- creased understanding of the program of Rotary, but it will also make all Rotarians increasingly aware of the purposes and the prestige of the organization to which we belong.
