Running out of guest speakers, President Hans Menzi picked at random among Manila Rotarians present to speak extemporaneously on any subject, except politics.. C. S. Gonzales as the first speaker gave suggestions on how to solve national problems, bordering narrowly on politics. Hank Carpenter of Colgate-Peet said that it's impossible not to talk about politics when everyday you read it in the newspapers. Domingo Bascara, YMCA secretary, appealed to the youth of the country to stay away from the cities and other thickly populated centers, but instead to go to the provinces and develop agricultural areas. Jimmy Velasquez started his speech by advertising Forbes Park. Then he recounted the progress of President Quirino's economic program and ended his speech with a boost for Magsaysay. Vic Buencamino talked of graft and corruption in the government. Modesto Farolan alone refrained from talking politics. He concentrated on the development of tourism in the Philippines and how this trade could save dollars for the country. He also reported on the recent Pacific Area Travel Conference in Hawaii. Mike Arnold was the finemaster. Danding Romualdez, the newly elected president. of the Manila Rotary Club and president of the Bankers' Association, was fined ₱75.00. Ramon Ordoveza, president of the Philippine Columbian Association, was fined ₱50.00. Dalup Dalupan, for failing to invite Miss Universe to speak before the Rotarians, was fined ₱50.00. George Koster was fined ₱50.00. A minute silent prayer was observed in memory of the war dead of Corregidor and Bataan and another 1-minute silent prayer was observed to honor the late mother of Greg Gregorio. Special guest was Miss Gilda Walstrom, voted Miss Mindanao. She was the only beauty of the International Fair who attended the meeting.
