<br/><br/> The Manila Rotary Club of 20 years ago, it would seem, was not as discriminating as that of the present age. In announcing a Fathers and Sons Day for December 11, 1930, for instance, the BALITA stated: "All members are urged to be present, and to bring one or more boys-either their own sons or a son of someone borrowed for the purpose."  ***  The Club went totally scientific at the luncheon-meeting of February 26, 1928. Rotarians Ad Brunner and Walter Smith first gave demonstrations of the advances made in the electrical production and transmission of sound, and then a demonstration was given by Dr. Williard H. Waterous of an electronic stethoscope.  We are interested in Doc Waterous' stethoscope because the TALIBA says: "Although you will think at first sight that Doc has gone into the Magnolia retail game, you will think differently after his talk and a showing of what this marvelous apparatus may accomplish for afflicted humanity."  ***  On December 15, 1927 the Rotarians engaged in an impromptu football game (where the game was held was not revealed by the BALITA). "Both teams," said our indefatigable chronicler, "showed the lack of practice, although the cheer leaders seemed to be ready for their part of the game at any old time-with or without practice."  ***  The BALITA seldom runs cuts but in the October 6, 1932 issue it published IN TWO COLUMNS a cut of the so-called World or Perpetual Calendar.  The Perpetual Calendar tells you what day January 20, 2556 will be, but then who wants to live that long?
