520 _aHow many different approaches were made to you for funds for the Girl Scouts of the Philippines? We had at least four different methods of collection applied and contributed three times. This, unfortunately, is not an isolated instance. Most of the campaigns for funds operate the same way. The result is that the first campaign or two are met with a receptive attitude, but everyone is soon fed up with the constant stream of letters signed with "Big" names and the constant flow of solicitors. It has been hoped the Community Chest might take hold and solve a part of this problem but does not seem to meet with unanimous support. Why, then, should not business and professional men through a medium of their own - or the Community Chest - determine which charities are to be supported and arrange to pay a total annual amount which shall be allotted among the charities. After making such an arrangement all those so contributing should be entitled to refuse all further solicitations. Let's get the Community Chest really operating or get an organization going to act as a go-between for business and professional people.
