520 | _aThe Object of Rotary pledges members "to encourage and foster... high ethical standards in business and professions..." A retail furniture dealer in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, U.S.A., saw an opportunity for fulfilling this pledge by bringing to the attention of his trade association the simple questions of the Four-Way Test: 1. It it the Truth? 2. Is it fair to all concerned? 3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships? 4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned? A resolution by which the Retail Furniture Dealers Association of Wisconsin adopted the Four-Way Test was introduced by this Rotarian at the annual convention, and passed unanimously. It is proposed to present every one of some six hundred members with a Four-Way Test desk plaque. When it is recalled that there are more than ten thousand state and local trade associations and some two thousand national and regional trade associations in the United States alone, the scale of opportunity for similar actions by Rotarians worldwide is truly phenomenal. All that is needed is determination on the part of individual Rotarians to fulfill the pledge contained in the Object of Rotary. (From NEWS BROADCAST) | ||
