Editorial - The Rotary Balita no. 631 (October 13, 1949)

Description: page 2 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 624 to 649Summary: Dear President Perce and Rotary Ann Edith: Every Rotarian in these emerald isles welcomes you to our home; for this is home to us, regardless of our origin. We welcome you to dine with us, and share our joys and blessings. We drink to your health, and we want you to sing with us our Philippine National Anthem. We hope you will be inspired by its beautiful sentiments. May you learn to like our way of Oriental life. The Spaniards taught us an expression which we repeat to you, "La casa es suya." Many an American has come here to spend a few weeks, or months, and has fallen in love with our people, and has repeatedly returned at the call of the East. Some unknown poet has expressed our thoughts in these beautiful stanzas: "Home is not merely four square walls, Though with pictures bung and gilded; Home is where affection calls, Filled with shrines the heart has builded. Home! Go watch the faithful dove Sailing through the air alone. Home is where there is one we love; Home is where there is one who loves us. Home is not merely roof nor room; It takes something to endear it. Home is where the soul can bloom. Where there is some kind word to cheer it."
