A London member had occasion to call at the American Embassy to sign some documents. On being asked to produce evidence of identity he said he had none. Official: You got your ration book? Member: No, my wife keeps that. Official: Got your identity card? Member: Identity cards are not now used. Official: But you got something? Member: Here is my membership card of the Rotary Club of London. Official: O.K., buddy, pass. You should have shown that at first.
