Last week, Governor Pons Ponce de Leon forwarded to Rotary International the application papers for the charter of the provisional club of Lipa. Organized a few months ago mainly by the untiring efforts of Mr. Ricardo B. Bonilla, the members of this provisional club have shown an extraordinary enthusiasm for the cause of Rotary. If approved by Rotary International, charter presentation to the club will be scheduled for the latter part of this month and with such presentation, it will be duly confirmed the existence of the 30th club in the Philippines. Provisionally, the club has the following Board of Directors who were elevated to the Office during the club elections held on September 25th. Ricardo B. Bonilla "Dick".....President Jose P. Ricto "Peping".....Vice Pres. Baldomero Reyes "Berong".....Director Lauro Lobrin "Oro".....Director Paulino Loisaga "Paul".....Director Benito Ramos "Ben".....Director Jose Gregorio "Joe".....Director Ex-Officio: Edilberto del Rio "Bert".....Secretary Juan O. Oboza "Johnny".....Asst. Sec. Ruperto Rodelas "Pert".....Treasurer Bernardino Olave "Banding".....Sgt.-at-Arms The activities of the club began on that day in full swing and we have received already copies of the very interesting club bulletin with the name of "The Lipeña Rotarians." As one of the editorials in the club bulletin says "being a provisional club, you must first acquaint yourself about Rotary International" and to this effect, the Program Committee has organized a series of addresses to be given by Rotary personalities from Manila well qualified to offer to the new club the Rotary information desired. The first speaker for October was past governor Marianito Lichauco who was followed by Amading Bautista, Balmie Balmaceda and Paulino Garcia. Scheduled for November are Danding Romualdez, Emy Javier, and Lino Neri. The enthusiasm of the newly created club is proven furthermore in the feet that four of its members have a high percentage of attendance and its provisional president, Dick Bonilla has reached 350% during the first month of his incumbency. We are publishing here the speech delivered by our fellow Rotarian, Balmie Balmaceda, on October 23rd and we take this opportunity to welcome the Rotary Club of Lipa in our Rotary family. To the members of the club, we send our best wishes and congratulations to President Dick and his Board of Directors, they can offer today our unqualified assistance and support.
