The Rotary Balita no. 744 (April 29, 1954)
The council on legislation, held as a part of the 1954 convention of R.I., is called to meet at 10 o'clock, Saturday morning, 5 June, 1954, in the Spanish Ballroom of the Olympic Hotel, Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. President Serratosa Cibils has appointed Past R.I. President S. Kendrick Guernsey, of Jacksonville, Florida, U.S.A., to be chairman of the Council. The membership of the council on legislation is composed of the following: -The district governors of R.I., except in those districts where the governor designates a member of a Rotary club in his district to serve in his place. -The president of R.I.B.I. and one representative of the clubs in each of the districts in Great Britain and Ireland. -The chairman of the Canadian advisory committee and the chairman of the European, North African and Eastern Mediterranean advisory committee. -The president of R.I., the other members of the board of directors of R.I. and the secretary of R.I. -Representatives-at-large and representatives of non-districted clubs, appointed by the president of R.I. -All past presidents of R.I. and any voluntary past secretary of R.I. holding active, past service or senior active membership in a Rotary club. -The chairman of the council on legislation, the chairman of the constitution and by-laws committee of R.I. and the nominee for president of R.I. District governors were requested to file with the secretary, by 10 April, certificates indicating the representation of their districts on the council. A district will not be represented in the council on legislation unless the governor acts as the representative of his district or designates someone to serve in his place.
