520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | This was a big day for the Thirty-One Rotarians who earned their 100 percent Rotary Pins. For Vince Bunuan it was doubly so, first for his outstanding record of five years complete attendance and secondly when Sec. of Foreign Affairs Rotarian Carlos P. "Rommy" Romulo, Past Veep of R. I., inducted him into office. as President of the Manila Rotary Club. The gavel of the club was turned over by outgoing President Ben Legarda after the latter's speech summarizing the accomplishments of the past Rotary years. Vince in an extemporaneous speech challenged fellow Rotarians when he said: "For I cannot conceive how a club like ours, composed of men acknowledged as leaders in business and in the professions by virtue of the selective process of classification, can not, within the limitations prescribed by Rotary, harness the specialized human resources at its command take a more active, positive, dynamic and even militant part in the efforts that are being exerted in the solution of many municipal and national problems that face us today." Tony Anton was awarded the gold cup for being the most outstanding Rotarian during the year. Rotarian 100 percenters for 1950 were: Dolf Adolfo, Tony Anton, Paquing Benitez, Willie Dy Buncio, GE Eraña, Kikoy Genato, Rolfing Gonzalez, Dave Gunnell, Ned Hall, Ralph Hawkins, Karl Kreutz, Pete Lim, Frank Miles, Eking Montilla, Fernando Ocampo, Long Ortigas, Jack Preysler, Pete Teodoro, Villa Villanueva and Leroy Young. Four two years: JB Bautista, Lorry Lolarga, Juanito Nakpil, Pad Padua, Eddie Schwesinger and Yan Yanzon. For three years: Doc Ayesa, Ramon Ordoveza and Emy Javier. For four years: Bert Parsons; and for five years: Vince Bunuan. |
