| Summary, etc. | This issue of Rotary Balita comes to you in the wake of a catastrophe brought about by the P6,000,000 fire which razed the Philippine Education Co. compound to the ground on the afternoon of October 11th. The Rotary Balita was already "in bed," ready to roll off the presses when the fire struck. Duplicates of editorial copies on the editor's desk were also destroyed. Hence, this emergency issue. To our advertisers we offer our apologies for not being able to accommodate them. We beg them, however, to rest assured that in the next issue we will be serving them as usual. To our fellow Rotarians who were affected by the fire: Dave Gun-nell and Bob Miller, both of Philippine Education Co.; Balita's Editor Karl Kreutz of the Singer Sewing Machine Co.; and Frank Baker of the Law-yen' Cooperative Co. we extend our sympathies for their losses. Editor Karl is too busy organizing his new office so your Features Vice-chairman pinch-hit for him in this emergency number. Carmelo & Bauermann, Inc. printed this issue and managed to run it off their plant despite the limited time. |
