520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | At a recent fireside gathering at the home of Art Tanco, a lively discussion was had as to the propriety of inviting as Rotary guest speakers candidates for government offices, and allowing them to use Rotary meetings for political propaganda. It was there unanimously agreed to urge our program committee to refrain from inviting any guest to use our luncheon hour to discuss the merits of any candidate for a public office; to argue the pros and cons of any particular creed, religion, or political platform, or to agitate questions involving race prejudice, or any subject offensive to any group of our members. It was also there agreed that the use of public schools by politicians as a place to disseminate political propaganda is reprehensible, and should meet with our disapproval. |
