520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. IT HAS BEEN ASKED: Although I am a doctor, my classifications on entering the Club was Rice Grower as that occupation was the source of most of my income. Now things have changed and I derive most of my income from my medical practice. Can I correct my classification? Yes. The board of directors, in its discretion, may correct or readjust the classification of any member whose membership has not terminated, if the circumstances warrant such action, but due notice of such proposed correction or readjustment shall be given to the members. Of course, there must be an existing vacancy in his new classification before he can be transferred. IT HAS BEEN ASKED: What is the territorial limits of the Rotary Club of Manila? The territorial limits of this Club are the City of Manila and its environs. IT HAS BEEN ASKED: Should the Club back any candidate for public office? The Club should avoid all politics and is prohibited from endorsing or recommending any candidate for public office and it cannot discuss at any Club meeting the merits or demerits of any such candidate. IT HAS BEEN ASKED: Can the Club discuss public matters that are to be submitted to a public vote? Certainly. The merits of any public question involving the social, economic, moral or physical welfare of the people may be fairly and intelligently studied and discussed before a Club meeting for the enlightenment of its members, but the Club shall not take any action endorsing or condemning any measure which is to be submitted to the vote of the people. IT HAS BEEN ASKED: When is the annual meeting? The annual meeting of this Club shall be held on the second Thursday of April in each year. IT HAS BEEN ASKED: Can the day and hour of our regular weekly meeting be changed from Thursday at 12:30 P.M.? Yes, in an emergency, or for good cause, the Board of Directors may change the regular meeting of any week to a different hours or day, provided that due notice of such change is given to all the members of the Club. IT HAS BEEN ASKED: What constitutes a quorum of our Club? One-third of the active members in good standing shall constitute a quorum at the annual and regular meetings of our Club. IT HAS BEEN ASKED: Can a member secure a leave of absence? Yes, upon written application to the Board of Directors, setting forth good and sufficient cause, leave of absence may be granted excusing a member from attending the meetings of the Club for a specified length of time not to exceed one year. IT HAS BEEN ASKED: Does a leave of absence affect the Club's attendance record? Yes, it does. Such leave of absence does operate to prevent a forfeiture of membership; it does not operate to give the Club credit for the member's attendance. The excused member must be recorded as absent (unless he attends a regular meeting of some other club). IT HAS BEEN ASKED: Can the Club interest itself in any pending legislation that may be before Congress? Yes. The Club may discuss, endorse or condemn any piece of legislation that may be under consideration by Congress. IT HAS BEEN ASKED: Do I have to subscribe or renew my subscription to the Rotarian? No. Acceptance of membership in this Club is a declaration that the member has subscribed to the Rotarian and his annual dues include the price of his subscription.
