520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This week's meeting turned out to be Aviation Day in setting, theme and personalities involved. Against a fitting background of Philippine Airlines hospitality, Col. Otis Bryan, the former pilot for the late President Roosevelt, gave the Rotarians what is generally referred to as the "lowdown" on aviation, as is and as to be. He explained to crystalline clarity the huge organization that must be harnessed to this monumental factor of 'human progress; and as a chaser, he made certain prophecies that, based on scientific imagination, will be scientific possibilities in the near future. Just to snob Jack Swift and Flash Gordon, we might mention jet-propelled planes of luxurious accommodations, flying at 500 miles per hour, and air giants of atomic energies. True to tradition, past-president Manoling Lim was asked to report on what he saw and did during his last trip. Suggestion: next time we have a home-coming pigeon, let us have him tell us what he wanted to do but could not, just to satisfy this diabolical curiosity as to whether that theme would not be just as interesting. Gratitude: because the Rotarians sang themselves hoarse greeting Polding Rovira a happy birthday, Polding offered free plane rides for those who were interested. P.S. No one was interested because a PAL plane can not run out of gas as per instructions, unlike the obliging motor car.
