Summary, etc. | Five Manila Rotarians attended the Southern Tagalog Rotary Inter-City Club Forum held in San Pablo on Saturday, 29 September 1951, thus earning for themselves, the title of "Braves" from President "Vince" Bunuan, who disregarded protocol by conferring the title on himself as well. The other four-"Ted" Hall (who brought his Rotary Ann along), "Bert" Parsons, "Ralph" Rebullida, and "David" SyCip. The title cost them P5.00 each, deposited in the Fine-Box that "Ralph" Rebullida donated to the San Pablo Club. The forum got underway two hours late with the delegates sitting around lanzones-loaded tables. After the welcome address of San Pablo Rotary President "Toni" Azores, climaxed by the giving of the "go" signal on the consuming of the lanzones, the various "Service Speakers" delivered their talks and led the discussion on "Club Service" ("Bert" Parsons of Manila was pepperily concise); "Vocational Service" ("Toni" Azores of San Pablo); "Community Service" ("Sky Pilot" Evangelista of Batangas); and "International Service" ("Eno" Villaviencio of Lucena). "Vince" Bunuan presided over a meeting. Singing contests were held with San Pablo winning the honors. Past Governor "Ted" Hall delivered the closing address a resumé of the forum - discussions. The hand of fellowship was well extended by the host club, which wound up the forum with a program of dancing, games, and sightseeing. Farewells were said after the unanimous passing of a resolution, thanking the host club for its hospitality and for organizing the meeting so excellently. Although "Vince" may have wanted to add decorations to the title of "Braves", the trip was singularly uneventful, and we are inclined to agree with our San Pablo and Lucena friends who claimed that the peace and order situation was entirely satisfactory-well, almost, anyway. |
