520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The new officers and members of the Board of Directors were presented to the club at this meeting. They received a rousing ovation. Movies were taken by Movietec, through the initiative of Tony Anton. Highlights of this meeting were: a speech on India's Industrial Set-up and Possibilities by Dr. T. G. Menon, Indian consul-general in the Philippines; two lovely songs by charming film and stage star Fara Lizardo, accompanied by noted pianist, Prof. Julio Esteban Anguita, and exchange of Rotary banners with Fellow Rotarians G. W. E. Burnaclough from Sidney and W. R. McDonald from Brisbane, Australia. Outstanding sidelight was the photographing of prominent Rotarians who wandered through dreamland while their fellow Rotarians were deeply pondering over India's possibilities. It is the consensus of opinion that this will enrich our coffers by a sizable amount next meeting. Kogue Arno delivered the response to the guest speaker. Lu Croft was called upon to deliver the usual 3-minute talk on "What Rotary Means To Me." His opening was a sincere: "I can assure you that this is a complete surprise." After which there was considerable laughter. All of which consumed almost one minute. Three ex-future-Mayors, Conrado Benitez, Manoling Lim, and Gil Puyat, received the plaudits of the club, as did future-Mayor Tiving Lovina, whose appointment is being urged by no less than 52 congressmen. Bob Trent read a letter from a Rotarian in India, who reported that at one of their meetings, they played a recording of Ambassador Romulo's address. "Rommy" being an outstanding member of the Manila Rotary Club, the Indian club gave a toast to Manila Rotary. Bruce Brussolo, who is leaving for Japan, and Ted Hall, who has just returned from Indonesia, were given a simultaneous applause of farewell and welcome, respectively. President Balmy also bade Godspeed to Gary Yupangco, who is leaving on a six-month tour. Today's songs were led by Karl Kreutz. The guests were introduced by Willie Dy Buncio.
