520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Whether the Philippine people like it or not, and whether the people of the U. S. are proud of it or not, the blood of C. S. warriors have not only flown into Philippine soil from Job to Aparri, but now flows in the veins of thousands of Philippine citizens. It is just as impossible to eradicate that blood from the rents of our mestizo children as it is to leach it out of our soil. Whether we shall have reason to be proud of that infiltration Of American blood, or whether it shall produce a crop of "malas yerbas," misfits and troublemakers, will depend upon what we do about it now. A large majority of the mothers of mestizos are unskilled working girls without sufficient resources to give those little kids an even break with the average Philippine children. They lack means to provide them with sufficient nourishment to produce strong healthy bodies free from disease. The American Philippine Guardian Association was incorporated nearly 30 years ago to help those mothers in their difficult task of giving an even break to those fatherless kids. If properly fed and educated now they will become ambassadors of goodwill binding Americans and Filipinos by a blood relationship of which we shall both be proud. They are not responsible for being stigmatized as illegitimates. They can't go out in the fields and plow and plant or catch fish from the sea. They are our responsibility. We all, Filipinos as well as Americans, will be benefited by seeing that they are given a square deal. Your contributions to the Community Chest will help the Guardian Association in caring for hundreds of those children right here in Manila. Many of them go to bed hungry every night. They need some of our Service above Self.
