520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Working together, during this Rotary year, we have accomplished the following things for our District: 1. We have set our house in order, so to speak, by the preparation of the folders for each and every Club in our District. Now, we have complete records. 2. We have bought equipment for the office of the District Governor, including a revolving chair and a filing cabinet. 3. We have encouraged and improved the attendance of the various Clubs; hence, of the District. The "Ted Hall Silver Cup" awarded to the Club, which has the highest percentage of attendance during the Rotary year, has contributed much towards the raising of our attendance. 4. We have worked together to have a well-balanced program putting into practice. the Four Objects of Rotary. The "Javier Cup" which has been awarded to the Manila Club, for having advanced most the Four Objects of Rotary, has encouraged all the other Clubs to have a symmetrically-developed program. 5. Our record has been considered out- standing by Headquarters in Chicago as regards the extension plan. At the beginning of this Rotary year we had only fourteen Clubs. To this we have added five regularly-organized and duly-chartered Clubs We have also organized three Provisional Clubs, making a total of eight Clubs. We are still organizing more Clubs in those places where we think they can survive. 6. At the beginning of this Rotary year not a single Club in our District was a one-hundred percenter as regards the contribution to the Rotary Foundation Fund. Now, all the nineteen regularly organized Clubs have subscribed one-hundred per cent to the Foundation Fund, making our District a one-hundred percenter District. This, indeed, is a rare achievement. 7. The receptions that we gave in Cebu, Baguio, and Manila to our International President Perce and his lovely wife Edith will remain with us as a source of pride and satisfaction. Perce and Edith left the Islands "overwhelmed by the hospitality of the Filipino people." Because of what we have achieved our Philippine District has acquired more importance in the Rotary world. The following excerpts taken from numerous communications from Chicago will attest to this fact: November 9, 1949 "From all that I can see, you're doing a perfectly grand job, and we're delighted to have you as the governor in your important district." - PHILIP LOVEJOY, Secretary November 15, 1959 "Congratulations on the good work you are doing keeping the program of Rotary vital in the Philippines. Your efforts on behalf of the Foundation are greatly appreciated and, as I wrote the other day, we are delighted at the fine work you are accomplishing. "Perce has told me on numerous occasions about all the fine work you are doing and the other day he included you in his talk to the Rotary staff here." - PHILIP LOVEJOY, Secretary January 19, 1950 "Rotary in The Philippines is to be congratulated upon having such a hard working district" governor. I am most happy and fortunate to have you on our team this year. You are doing a grand job of work." - PERCE HODGSON, President May 5, 1950 "It is an inspiration to us here in this office, to see a man of your standing give the time and attention to the work of the district governor that you are devoting to it. I little wonder that you say that it is a full-time job. As you are hand ling it, it most certainly must be taking all of your time. I hope that the Rotarians in your district realize how fortunate they are to have a man who will give of himself as you are in order to make Rotary progress." - RUSSEL V. WILLIAMS, Assistant Secretary May 29, 1950 "Your record in extension is outstanding and worthy of the highest praise and admiration. The splendid way in which these new clubs are functioning is indicative of the excellent way they were organized and of the fine instruction you gave." - RUSSEL V. WILLIAMS, Assistant Secretary Fellow Rotarians, let us keep up the good work! |
