Summary, etc. | Tuesday was the 48th anniversary of the Homeowner's Association, Inc. A doff of the chapeau to Vicente "Vic" A. Rufino, president; Roro "Romy" Villonco, treasurer; and Juan F. "Juanito Nakpil, director. The Arturo "Art" Tancos, of the Food Enrichment Enterprise (Enriched Rice, to you) entertained at a despedida for a nutritionist of the Institute of Nutrition. In a symposium on tourism sponsored by the University of the East graduate school, Modesto "Fary" Farolan, president of the Philippine Tourist and Travel Association, was one of the speakers. Fary deplored the fact that the Philippines gets very little of the two billion dollars which Americans spend annually in travel. One of the moving spirits of the rally in Malacañang on the occasion of National Heroes Day was Dr. Gumersindo "Gumer'' Garcia, who was written up in last Sunday's Sunday Times Magazine. A three-step plan to reduce conflicts between Filipinos and Chinese was bared by Teofilo "Re Reyes, immediate past president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines. Other speakers were Yang Sepeng and Quirino "Greg" Gregorio. Still playing basketball after all these years is Johnny Schlobohm. He is playing in the current PIBA tournament which is an attempt of old i hands in the basketball game to show that they can still carry their weight around on basketball courts. Congratulations to Marvin "Maro" Gray where's that cigar? "Mare" has just been presented by Mrs. Gray with a third child - a boy! Whose picture stared at readers of the Sentinel sometime ago but our own Peter Richards? One of the busy men during the last NAMFRELI convention was Dr. Herminio "Hermie" Velarde, a member of the board of directors. He was likewise busy on Heroes Day being an "Alagad ni Bonifacio." Paul "Woody" Wood will be present at today's meeting, perhaps. He arrived this week from four-month trip abroad. |
