Summary, etc. | FELLOWSHIP Prepared by Past Gov. MARIANITO LICHAUCO "FELLOWSHIP IS THE LUBRICANT THAT MAKES THE ROTARY WHEEL ROLL SMOOTHLY AS IT TRAVELS THROUGH THE FOUR AVENUES OF SERVICE." The First Avenue of Service states: "The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service." Leaders as we are in our respective trades and professions, we have to learn to be good followers, because good fellowship requires intelligence and preparation as surely does good leadership, and there can be no leaders unless there are good followers. A community does not exist chiefly because of formal planning and organization, but through direct personal acquaintance and relationship in a spirit of fellowship, and the beginning of community development is person-to-person relationship. Club Service is the training ground for this person-to-person relationship. It provides the opportunity for each Rotarian to do something to his liking, and within his means for his community, his country and in Rotary world-wide. This is the reason why Rotary stresses the individual Rotarian. Fellowship is the spirit that animates the service, and this is the reason why Rotary emphasizes fellowship. As Rotarians it is our duty to get acquainted with the other members of the club. Attending the weekly meetings of our club gives us the opportunity to meet the other members and get to know them better and learn something about their business and professions. The Manila club has an approximate membership of 200. How many of them do you know? Here is a test of your fellowship. |
