Report of meetings : October 14, 1948

Description: page 3-4 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 600 to 623Summary: CLOSED MEETING Highlight of last week's closed meeting was the club decision to construct right here in Manila a Rotary Home for good old Eighty First. As we local boys would put it: What does Mexico City have that Manila will not have soon? Work for the Classification Committee in a wonderful effort encourage national industries, it was decided to ask the classifiers to study and submit for recognition to Rotary International our own bakia industry. Suggestion: a sample bakia or two for those RI officials ought to prove our point is not as wooden as it sounds. Long Ortigas and Chick Parsons, both Innocents from Abroad, bring impressions and Post-scripts, while Bert "Get that Pest" Parsons reported on his favorite pest: attendance. Sob-sob: It was resolved that a letter of condolence should be sent to Gary Yupangco whose mother died recently.... Singer's "I don't sing" Karl Kreutz acknowledged the so-sorry-about-the-fire of fellow Rotarians, and announced that Ramon Ordoveza has gallantly taken over the job of editing the Balita while he (Karl) sort of readjust. Speaking of thoughtfulness: Dave Gun-nell after the P6,000,000 Peco fire: too bad about these Rotary proposals, boys....!
