Report of meetings : October 21, 1948
Description: page 5-6 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 600 to 623Summary: The Inter-city meeting that took place last week featured the satellites of the youngest Rotary Club in the Philippines, the Cabanatuan chapter, headed by "Goo-goo-goo" Romualdo Handre. Although organized barely six months ago, the chapter boasts of a head who would have dissected for us the government proposal of rice monopoly did not that incorrigible clock on the wall proclaim in loud silence that there was absolutely no time to spare. That one would have been interesting surely, considering the fact that Cabanatuan lies deep in the core of the rice granary of the country - and it is but fair that we hear the side of these back-bones of the nation whose line the government plans to monopolize.... Past Rotary Governor, Dr. C. T. Wang, (not to mention the august distinction of having been R.I. Vice-prexy also) spoke on the imperative need of an area conference between the Philippines and China. United We Stand: In consonance with the United Nations Week, Lou Wagner read the preamble of the U.N. charter, while our own M.O.V. Carluen played the International Anthem he himself composed (words by Poet Emy Javier - darling, didn't you know?). Letters from Conrado Benitez' member of the International Committee, were cited... But back to the Cabanatuan Benjamins, that short reminder of Balmy Balmaceda about Rotary being a code of living not a phrase to roll on the tongue, ought to go a long, long way. See you next week...Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
