Cogs in the wheel - The Rotary Balita no. 607 (October 28, 1948)
Description: page 11-12 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 600 to 623Summary: Dagupan Rotarians are raising funds for the erection of a memorial building in honor of the war dead of Pangasinan. Goal set for the drive is PI50,000. The plan is receiving active support from provincial government officials. The individual Rotarian is the keynote of this worldwide organization which we know as Rotary. Every individual member of every Rotary Club in the world has a definite responsibility for service in his club, his community, his country, and in Rotary world-wide. Netherlands Minister Toussiant, who was guest speaker of the Baguio Rotary Club last October 9th, started his speech by saying that he considers Baguio his second home because while' born in Holland, he came to the Philippines before the war, met a girl in Manila, married her, and spent his honeymoon in Baguio. After talking for more than two hours on Indonesia and its political status, he distributed booklets on "Holland -A Country to Watch." When it comes to selling his country, take it from Minister Toussiant. Rotarian Dan Gomez left for Washington last Thursday in the interest of Philippine Airlines. While on a business trip to Baguio, Rotarian C. S. Gonzales attended the Baguio Rotary meeting on October 9th. He observed that business in the Pines City is slow but Baguio Rotarians are as lively as ever. On our Courtesy Campaign, the following Rotarians advised the Committee they have instructed their employees to say "Good morning" or "Good afternoon" when answering telephones, and to practice courtesy at all times: Earl Sutherland, George L. Adamson, Sergio Bayan, Vic Rufino, Tony Anton, Yang Sepeng, Pad Padua, Jack Horton, Dan Gomez, Polding Rovira, and B. G. Baumgardner. The Committee requests all Rotarians to cooperate in this campaign. Let's practice courtesy. It is good business.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
