The Rotary Balita No. 675 to 698Summary: Last March your President Ben Legarda, while at the District Conference in Baguio, extended an invitation to the Rotary Clubs in the 48th District to hold this year's District Assembly in Manila, with our club as the host. This invitation was accepted and Governor "Tingting" Faelnar has set Friday, August 17, and Saturday, August 18, as the date of the assembly. What is the purpose of a District Assembly? Rotary International defines a District Assembly as being: "For the purpose of the conference and receiving information as to club activities for the current year, an assembly of the presidents and secretaries of all clubs in the district shall be held annually as soon as possible after the international assembly, at such time and place as the governor of each district shall determine." Who should attend? Each club president and secretary is expected to be present. Club vice presidents, members of Board of Directors, and Committee Chairmen are urged to attend. Club members are free to attend so as to benefit from the Rotary information that will be dispensed. Social activities? Yes. A fellowship dinner for Rotarians and their Anns and guests on Friday evening, August 17, at the Avenue Hotel. Secretary Carlos P. Romulo, the man with many titles, will be the guest speaker, followed by a private showing of the film "Follow the Sun." A Fellowship luncheon for Rotarians on Saturday noon, August 18, at the Manila Hotel. Past 1st. Vice-President of Rotary International and Past. District Governor Gil Puyat will be the speaker. All Manila Rotarians are expected to be present at these two events. Remember the Manila Club extended this invitation and, therefore, it is the obligation of each and every Rotarian of the Manila Club to see that our guests are properly cared for.
