By: Description: page 29-30 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 675 to 698Summary: Led by President Vince Bunuan and Monching Araneta, chairman of Youth Work Committee, a group of Manila Rotarians were special guests at a Luncheon Program and Open House at Boys Town in Marikina on Aug. 25, 1951. A highlight of the occasion was the inauguration of the Vocational High School of Boys Town. Rotary Ann Nina Estrada-Puyat and Monching Araneta cut the ribbon at the entrance to the Vocational High School building and Industrial Arts Shop. Reverend Father Jose A. Mirasol, chaplain of Boys Town officiated at the blessing ceremony. Like an experienced dramatist, Monching Araneta, without previous announcement, delivered Manila Rotary's initial gifts of three powered machines consisting of a Wood Shaper, a Scroll Saw and a Band Saw, costing almost P3,000.00. Twenty percent of this sum was contributed by the Manila Machinery Company, supplier of the machines. Mrs. Olimpia O. Lozano received the gifts. Rotarians who were present at the presentation were: President Vince Bunuan, Vice-President Paul Parrette, Youth Work Committee Chairman Monching Araneta, Peter Lim, Ralph Rebullida, Young Sepeng and Dolf Adolfo. Boys Town has now a population of over 300 boys, 20 of whom are in the first year High School and 9 in the second year. It has a staff of 15 teachers and social workers. The boys look healthy and happy. The varied program that they presented consisting of songs, plays and recitations were well performed. After we left, we felt that BUILDING BOYS IS REALLY BETTER THAN MENDING MEN.
