Club program demonstrates "Service is my Business"

Description: page 9 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 624 to 649Summary: The purpose of a program staged by the vocational service committee of the Rotary Club of Oakland, California, U.S.A., was two-fold: to develop reader interest in Rotary's book, "Service Is My Business," and at the same time define the second object of Rotary. The program consisted of a panel of the club's own members who discussed the subject from the three points of view of employers, employees, and the customer. After a brief summation by the Master of Ceremonies as to the importance of the second object to each member of the club, the three speakers followed each other without interruption, each talking seven minutes. The basis of each presentation was a portion of "Service Is My Business," interesting facts and comments being used to direct the club members' attention to the book. That the program was effective is apparent from the fact that over 160 orders for the book were received on order cards which were enclosed with the next issue of the club's weekly bulletin. — From R.I. News Broadcast The Rotary club is decidedly more than a luncheon club. It is a classification club. To the sincere Rotarian it represents a means of making himself a useful element in the community, a means of extending his influence for good. Every Rotarian automatically becomes a representative from Rotary to his own craft or profession.
