Description: page 13-17 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 600 to 623Summary: IT HAS BEEN ASKED: How is a man elected to membership in our Club? There are 8 steps to be followed: 1. A member in good standing may submit a form known as a "proposal card," containing the necessary information thereon in relation to the man proposed, to the Board of Directors through the Secretary of the Club. 2. The Board of Directors shall then refer the "proposal card" to the classification committee who shall consider the eligibility of such proposed member from the standpoint of classification and declare the classification filled or unfilled and the proposed classification proper or improper and return the "proposal card," together with this information to the Board of Directors. 3. If the proposed member meets with the classification requirements, the card is referred by the Board of Directors to the membership committee who shall make due investigation of the character, business, social standing and general eligibility of the person proposed for membership and if he is considered eligible, the membership committee shall refer the proposed card back to the Board of Directors as approved. 4. The Board of Directors shall then review the action of the classification committee and the membership committee and sustain or reject their decisions. 5. After the classification committee and the membership committee have reported favorably upon the name of the proposed member and the Board of Directors has sustained the action, the proposer shall be notified and the regular form of application blank shall be filled out by the proposed member and signed by him. 6. After the application has been secured from the proposed member the secretary shall notify each member of the club in writing, giving the name of the proposed candidate, the firm represented and the classification under which he seeks membership. A ten-day period shall then be allowed during which any member objecting to the election of the applicant shall notify the Board of Directors in writing stating reasons for his objection. 7. After the expiration of the ten days the Board of Directors shall meet and consider such objections as may have been submitted. They shall then proceed to ballot and if not to exceed three negative votes are cast, the proposed member shall be considered duly elected. 8. The applicant and the proposer shall then be notified by the secretary of the applicant's acceptance. --- IT HAS BEEN ASKED: How are past service members elected? A former active member of a Rotary Club who became ineligible to active or senior membership because of his retirement from active business or professional life and who was an active member of a Rotary Club at the time of retiring, who has five years or more of active membership to his credit, and who lives within the territorial limits of this Club may apply or may be proposed for past service membership to the Board of Directors in writing, and the election shall be in the same manner as prescribed for an active member.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
