We are told that some of them even remarkad that they would have gladly paid larger fines than were imposed upon them. if people only pay their taxes in the same spirit, government deficit would be an unheard of thing. Guest speaker Alfonso Calalang, Acting Governor of the Central Bank, delivered a fiery speech, surcharged with indignation against "carpetbaggers, Filipino tories and economic traitors, who, lacking faith in the government and in the future of this country, would send their money abroad for safety." The speaker appealed to foreigners to cast their lot with this country and to Filipinos for patriotism, by investing in Productive enterprises here.
