The Rotary Balita No. 675 to 698Summary: Eight Rotarians, all living up to the Rotary pledge of "Service Above Self," have donated or otherwise made possible cash prizes for the National Boy Scout Song Contest. They are: "Jack" Preysler (San Miguel Brewery), P200; "Natoy" Halili (F. F. Halili Enterprises), P200; "Vie" Rufino (Luzon Theaters), P200; "Tim" Certeza, P100; "Rex" Reyes (Triple-A Batteries), P100; "Dalup" Dalupan, P100; Hans Menzi, P100; "Vic" Rufino (Eastern Theatrical Co.), P100; and "Pepe" Tiosejo, P100. The Boy Scouts of the Philippines, through the contest, hope to develop a repertoire of Boy Scout songs composed by Filipino song-writers, and which will reflect Filipino temperament and spirit. --- Gil Puyat, senator-elect, will be honored at a popular banquet by friends, admirers, and supporters at the Fiesta Pavilion, on Saturday noon, January 26. Gil also was the guest speaker at the unveiling of the monument to the late hero of the resistance, Jose Abad Santos, in Floridablanca, Pampanga last Monday afternoon. --- Our Indian brothers ("Bhopat" Isardas, "Das" Isardas, "Rup" Nawalrai) were among the heaviest contributors to the Hibok-Hibok fund. The Indian community contributed a total of P1,125 and a box of clothes to the sufferers of Camiguin. --- "Whip." That's the new title of "Pablito" Lorenzo. He was named by the President to mobilize action on the various economic and industrial development projects and accelerate their completion. --- The 1953 international exposition and fair in Manila, brain-child of our "Balmy" Balmaceda, secretary of commerce, is fast taking shape. Many Rotarians will help "Balmy" make the project a whopping success. For one thing, "Arsenic" N. Luz, first Filipino president of the Manila Rotary Club, will be asked-according to re liable sources to direct the fair. "Arsenic" is an old hand in the fair game. Remember the old Manila carnivals?
