Are Engineers, such as Civil, Mining, Highway, Automotive, Industrial, Chemical, Consulting, etc., considered eligible for membership under their professional classification if they devote their full time to a corporation, a city, country or state, at a regular salary? Only those offering their services to the public in a professional capacity, usually maintaining an office of their own, are considered entitled to a professional classification. In accordance with the explanation for classification the professional man or concern, given in the introduction of the "Out- line of Classification," the engineer permanently employed by a concern to which he is devoting all of his professional service and from which he is gaining his living, is only eligible to membership under the classification established for the business or service of that concern. An electrical engineer who holds an executive position in an Electric Light Plant would be classified as "Electric Light and Power Service" and not "Electric Engineer." Similarly, an electrical engineer who holds an executive position in an Electric Instrument Manufacturing Plant would be classified as "Electric Instrument-Manufacturing" and not "Electric Engineer How are Army and Navy Officers classified in Rotary? Sporting Goods: Fishing Tackle A member under the minor classification of "Corporation Law" is taken into a metal mining corporation as Corporate Counsel of the firm, and at the same time as Vice- President of the corporation. As Corpo rate Counsel of the firm, he devotes more than 60% of his time to the legal affairs of the corporation. How will this affect his membership in the Club? Inasmuch as the member is the corporation lawyer of the firm and is devoting more than 60% of his time to the legal affairs of the firm, he is not entitled to retain his classification of "Law-Corporation." A man working for any commercial or industrial concern should be classified in accordance with the service being rendered by said commercial or industrial concern, and not by the position held by him in said concern. His classification should be "Metal Mining."
