Rotarian Jaycees
Description: page 15 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 624 to 649Summary: With the Jaycees glowing in the spotlight these days on the occasion of their Fifth Congress, Manila Rotary is proud to note that, among them, are some of its own boys. It cannot but find glory in the fact that some of its own members belong to the local Jaycee group which last year won tremendous publicity for the Philippines in America, and which did an even greater job this year by making the Philippines the site of the present Fifth Congress. Prominent among these Manila Rotarian-Jaycees, and at the helm of the local Jaycee movement, is exacting, likable "Monching" del Rosario. The Jaycees are unanimous in claiming that Monching, as President of the Philippine Junior Chamber of Commerce and Vice-President of JC International, has contributed much towards fostering the Jaycee crusade not only in the Philippines but all over the world. It is only in acknowledgment of his great capabilities as a leader that he was chosen Chairman of the Fifth World Congress Committee. Other Rotarians among the local Jaycees who, as UN President Romulo says, "are drawing world notice in the splendid role of promoter of international goodwill," are "Gene" Puyat, "Charlie" Palanca, "Totti" Eraña and Bob Trent. Gene, who is Executive Vice-President of the Philippine Jaycees and International Affairs VP, is a member of the World Congress Committee. Also a member of the committee is Charlie, who holds the post of Secretary of the Philippine Jaycees. "Totti" Eraña is a member of the committee in charge of benefit shows to be held during the eight-day congress. And Bob, though still as energetic as many a young man, has finally become an "exhausted rooster," a Jaycee title for members over 40 years of age.Item type | Current library | Call number | Copy number | Status | Barcode | |
