Congratulations to Dr. Francisco "Dalup" Dalupan, on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the University of the East. UE will celebrate three days, January 23 through 25. Add to the many accomplishments of Jose "Joe" Orosa his successful mediation in a row which threatened to divide the business writers' group. The same Business Writers Association of the Philippines named Francisco "Paquing" Benitez, Jr.'s Redi Taxicab Company as the Taxicab Company of the Year. Keep it up, Paquing! Welcome home to Yu Khe Thai, president of Yutivo Sons Hardware Co., back from a four-month business trip to New York. Latest advices say that Vicente "Vince" Bunuan, sugar administrator, is on his way home, after attending the International Sugar Conference in London. Senator Gil Puyat finally upped and did it: he filed a bill transferring the functions of the Import Control Commission to the Central Bank. Benito "Ben" Legarda, president of the Philippine Motor Association, set the association's annual meeting on February 23. It seems as if our roads will finally get a break. Secretary of Public Works Pablo "Pablito" Lorenzo released 6 million pesos for the repair of streets in four cities, 12 provinces. Word has been received in Manila that Governor Fortunato "Natoy" Halili will be attending the inauguration of President Eisenhower. Lucky fellah. When the 1953 International Fair opens next month, three Rotarians will be proud of their achievements. They are Arsenio N. "Arsenic" Luz, Cornelio "Balmy" Balmaceda, and Juan F. "Juanito" Nakpil, representative of Rotary in the board of architects of the fair. "Juanito" was responsible for the fact that the booths of the foreign participants have been arranged in the main avenues and converging towards the UN Plaza, and that there are 8 or 10 monumental courts of honor.
