Editorial - The Rotary Balita no. 728 (August 27, 1953) / by Ernie Del Rosario.
Description: page 2, 37 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 724 to 748Summary: OUR POWs This week we welcome home the Filipino prisoners of war who were released by the Communists in accordance with the terms of the truce in Korea. They are the men whose fate was the limbo between a safe return from the battlefield and the point of no return which is death. Theirs was a living death in the hands of the enemy. Their tortured minds and wracked bodies should be our concern, for they have staked all for the cause which is dear to all of us. They deserve tender care not only from the families to which they return but also from everyone who cherishes democracy, the cause they fought for. Every soldier who fights for right belongs to the heart of the nation. Those who survive a battle, those who die, those who have to pass through captivity by the enemy, they serve to the same degree. And the soldier who returns from stockades has had the experience of being helpless in the hands of the antagonist. We must take. him close to our heart and make him feel that we are richer by his experience and more determined to pursue his fight to the final victory. There must be no more prisons for him and for free men.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
