Our Rotary 45th anniversary celebration / by Gov. Emy Javier
Description: page 20-22 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 624 to 649Summary: Complying with my request contained in my January monthly letter, the various Clubs in our 48th District celebrated the Forty-fifth Anniversary of Rotary with fitting programs. It was physically impossible for me to attend all the celebrations, with the exception of the Rotary Club of San Fernando, where I was the guest speaker and the Rotary Club of Malolos, where Past District Governor Marianito Lichauco was the guest speaker. I also spoke briefly at the celebration of the Rotary Club of Malolos on the life of our founder, Paul Harris. After my brief remarks, amidst impressive ceremony, the oil painting of Paul Harris was unveiled by Naty Javier, Rotary Ann of Governor Emy, assisted by Pinay Bustos, Rotary Ann of Naning Bustos and President of the Inner Wheel Club of Malolos. Reports have been coming that other Rotary Clubs in the District also observed the 45th Anniversary of Rotary with special programs. Here in Manila our celebration consisted of press releases, of radio broadcasts, and of the special program held on February 23, 1950, at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel. This was ladies' day and the meeting was enjoyed by all. Our own, Conrado Benitez, who has just returned from a trip abroad and has visited various Clubs, was our guest speaker. He reviewed briefly the history of Rotary and stressed on the important role that Rotary is taking in the amelioration of world conditions.Item type | Current library | Call number | Copy number | Status | Barcode | |
