Fred Stevens makes donation to Manila Rotary

Description: page 25, 27 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 749 to 774Summary: On the eve of his departure for the United States, our honorary member Fred Stevens, one of the charter members of the Rotary Club of Manila, has made a donation to our Club as contribu- tion to the favorite project of President Gene. This traditional gesture of Rotarian Fred has been presented to the Club with the letter that we copy in full and has been acknowledged by President Gene in the letter which is also transcribed below. From Fred to Gene: July 15, 1954 My dear Gene: One of the ills of being an honorary member of the Rotary Club is the fact that I can't contribute by paying dues and help support the splendid work which the Rotary is doing. However, it is customary for me every year to send the incoming President the equivalent of dues in the Rotary Club and request him to place this amount to the credit of his favorite charity. I am attaching a check for P100, which I hope you will receive for that purpose. I regret that due to my absence in the United States this year I will not be able to be with you many times during your term but I want you to know that you have my sincere wish that your year will be a successful one. Rotarily yours, (Sgd.) FREDERIC H. STEVENS From Gene to Fred: July 19, 1954 Dear Fred: This is to acknowledge with deep appreciation receipt of your check for One Hundred Pesos. (P100.00) which you place at my disposal for dona- tion to my favorite charity. I consider this one of the most meaningful funds of our Club because of the nobility of its purpose. Please be assured that I will give it where I believe it will do most good. Our club's receipt covering your remittance is enclosed herewith. I am sorry to learn that you will not be with us many times during the year due to your trip to United States. I am sure every member of our Club would want me to wish you a pleasant trip and quick return. Rotarily yours, EUGENIO J. PUYAT
