Description: page 43 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 724 to 748Summary: More than 360,000 world-minded Rotarians, each working in his personal spheres of influence, will surely build a well-informed public opinion. It is believed that a world-minded Rotarian will possess and actively demonstrate at least the following attributes: (a) He will look beyond national patriotism, which is rightly and necessarily common to all men who may qualify for membership in Rotary, and see himself as a responsible and well-informed citizen of the world. (b) He will resist any tendency to think. in terms of national or racial superiority. (c) He will seek and develop common grounds for agreement with peoples of other lands. (d) He will be prepared to defend the rule of law and order based upon the liberty of the individual in freedom of thought, speech, and assembly; freedom of worship; and freedom from persecution. (e) He will support action directed towards improving standards of living for all peoples, realizing that poverty anywhere endangers prosperity everywhere. (f) He will strenuously uphold the principles of justice for mankind, believing that the principles of justice are fundamental and should be worldwide. (g) He will strive always to promote peace between nations and will be prepared to make personal sacrifices for that ideal. (h) He will urge and practice a spirit of understanding of every other man's beliefs, as a step towards international goodwill, recognizing that there are certain basic moral and spiritual standards, which, if practiced, will ensure a richer, fuller life. -The London RotarianItem type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
