Andres Soriano to the Industrial Textile Manufacturing Corporation of the Philippines (ITEMCOP) on August 27, last, had a glimpse into the gigantic industrialization program of the Soriano empire. Colonel Soriano who addressed the large assembly seated uncomfortably because of the extreme noon summer heat announced five projects to be undertaken by San Miguel Brewery in conjunction with US firms in the near future. Better access ties could have rendered the speech more effective. The speaker said that import controls are necessary as emergency measures but the people, he added, should not forget the basic law of supply and demand. The guests saw the various stages necessary in making rice and sugar bags. Each of the visitors was provided with a brochure showing the company production and the country's consumption. The Soriano executives and their assistants were on hand to be of assistance to the guests.
