Description: page 35, 37, 39 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 724 to 748Summary: GREETINGS- I am happy to report to you that I have met and made friends with many governors of Rotary International in Lake Placid. I have received the Governor's Monthly Letter of Luis A. Premoli (D-137), Claud D. Black (D-160C), W. Kelly Simmons. (D-196), Elmer H. Schirmer (D-213), Robert Guy Buzzard (D-215), Ed Lincoln (D-219), William G. Lochead (D-221), Robert J. FitzSimmons (D-213), Harold V. George (D-261), Hartley C. Gove (D-272). and Carlyle Rutledge (D-281). Others are K. A. Anderson (D-127). Thos. W. Williamson (D-180), Percy L. Johnson, Jr. (D-185), Grady Halbert (D-186), and Oswald A. Franz, Jr. (D-197) with whom I expect to "compare notes". I brought with me and gave away 180 club pennants (for my Club) and about 30 Filipino national flags and I have received to-date about 40 in return. They are still coming in the mails from different parts of the world. PDG BEN I wish to congratulate PDG Ben for his splendid work last year and it is my dream to, if not equal, at least trail not far behind his accomplishments. I am particularly grateful to him for he was the first (Philippine) Rotarian to congratulate me after my election at the R.I. Convention in Paris and to pledge me his support and whole-hearted cooperation this-Our Year. ROTARY FOUNDATION FELLOW I quote you a letter of PDG Cas Apeland (D-214) of Evanston, Illinois, regarding our Rotary Foundation Fellow, Jaime E. Dy-Lincco: "I was very happy to have met you at Lake Placid and to have had the opportunity of telling you what a student Jaime Dy-Liacco has proved to be at Northwestern. "He has made a fine impression wherever he has spoken and has done the cause of Rotary Foundation and Rotary a great deal of good. "I hope Jaime will look you up when he returns to the Philippines so that you may be able to help. him arrange speaking engagements. He is a good public speaker." POLITICS I quote you the part of my remarks during the last Convention and calling your attention to Section 2. Article IX of the Rotary Club Constitution: the march of events has resumed faster tempo in this our corner of the globe. In the international field, grave decisions have been taken and others graver still are in the making, which will surely have a forceful impact upon the affairs of our country. In the domestic field, the national elections are approaching and in its train that Enlightening thing - polities. It is our fond hope and assurance that our fellow Rotarians would face the problems of war and politics in the best and highest traditions of Rotary." NATIONAL ANTHEM I am happy to report that our National Anthem shall be printed in the U.8. Rotary Song Book next printing. This was the subject of discussion in Cebu during last year's District Assembly. CLUB HISTORIES I urge the preparation of histories for each and every club in the District that we may have same in archives for posterity and for reference if need should arise sometimes. Since I am preparing albums for same I request that these be written on 8½ x 11 good bond paper and send me 40 copies. of same. These will be compiled in albums and each. club will receive one album containing the histories. of all the clubs. Do not forget to include the date. of your organization, the organizers, date of charter presentation, your club number, the charter members, your first officers, etc. PACIFIC REGIONAL CONFERENCE The board of Directors of R.L. have authorized the holding of a Pacific Regional Conference in Sydney, Australia, in 1956 of Rotary clubs bordering on the Pacific Ocean. The board agreed also. that a regional conference should be held not more often than every five years in any one region and beginning in 1956, the order of rotation shall be as follows: Pacific; Caribbean-Gulf of Mexico; Asia; South America; North America; Eastern Mediterranean region. The board gave consideration to the resolution approved during our District Conference, but, in view of the fact that a Pacific Regional Conference will be held in Sydney in 1956, it could not accede to our request that a regional conference be held in our area in 1954. ATTENDANCE I refer you to page 14 of the Manual of Procedure, 1952 Edition, re attendance. Please make your reports to reach this office before the 10th so I can. have my reports transmitted to R.L. on time. Members on leave are absent and should so appear in your records and accordingly with attendance percentage. SEMI-ANNUAL REPORTS OF CLUB MEMBERSHIP I have received some copies of the semi-annual reports of club membership, but to date I have no complete file for all clubs. Those of you who have missed to send their copies, please do so immediately. EXTENSION R.I. this year stresses on this phase of work so I am asking all Clubs to make surveys of nearby cities and provinces for the possibility of establishing new ones. I would request information regarding results at an early date. I have written some Presidents about surveys began previously for a follow-up or a re-survey and a report. COMMENDATIONS Commendations are in order for President Danding Romualdez of Manila for the very successful interclub meetings he has started by inviting one club's membership to Manila and then his members reciprocating the visit. That is in simple language -FELLOWSHIP!
