Report of meetings : September 9, 1954 / Joe Bautista

By: Description: page 5-6 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 749 to 774Summary: At today's meeting, the club was supposed to have the official visit of district governor "Pons" Ponce de Leon. Nevertheless, at meeting time, Pons had not arrived in Manila and President Gene was forced to conduct the meeting with some ex- temporaneous interventions. Not knowing the whereabouts of Governor Pons, President Gene also cancelled the evening club assembly scheduled in the governor's presence. It has turned out, as it was later discovered, that there was a misunderstanding about the holding of the luncheon meeting due to an exchange of cables that did not reach the governor before he left his residence in Dumaguete. Governor Pons has had a tremendously busy schedule during the past two weeks and has covered almost all the clubs in Luzon at this time. Several Manila Rotarians have accompanied him to Cavite, Malolos, San Fernando, Cabanatuan and other clubs. It is hoped that the official visit of the governor would be rescheduled at an early date with the club assembly.
