The Rotary Balita No. 749 to 774Summary: TACLOBAN CONSTRUCTION OF WAITING SHEDS SOON A REALITY All that remains before the pouring of the first shovel of cement, gravel and sand in the construction of the Rotary Waiting Sheds at the wharf is the signature of the Secretary of Public Works and Communications. Thanks to the efforts of our own Celing Samson... three cheers for Celing for his splendid work... the plans submitted by Mart and President Juling have already been approved by the authorities concerned. The early start of the work is made possible by the spontaneous response of the Rotarians to the call for funds by the President. Contributions in the following amounts have been promised: President Juling Dolorico ....... P 200.00 Treasurer Jack Yao ....... 100.00 Director Bonton Chan ....... 100.00 Fred Poticano (in hollow blocks) ....... 100.00 Vie Chan ....... 100.00 Frank Diu ....... 100.00 All the other members at P50.00 each. There will be three waiting stations to be constructed with cement. These will be smaller than that one built at the Roxas Park by past president Paquito Quintero, whose farsightedness is shown by the incessant use of the station by the waiting public. The usefulness of the structure has inspired the Club to construct the three others in order that Rotary may be able to render a similar service to the public waiting at the wharf for the arrival or departure of vessels. DAGUPAN LETTER FROM MALACAÑANG President Magsaysay has written to the club, expressing his gratification over the club's donation to the Liberty Wells Fund. The President's letter is reproduced in its entirety below: MALACAÑANG Manila September 14, 1954 Rotary Club of Dagupan Dagupan City Gentlemen: I have just read a report from Mr. Albino Z. SyCip, Treasurer of the Liberty Wells Association, about the generous donation that you have given. Since that Liberty Well is a pet project of mine, I have taken this occasion to express my highest appreciation of your civic spirit and to hope that others will follow your worthy example. Undoubtedly, the recipients of your generosity will soon see their way to better life and better health. With the assurances of my highest consideration and best wishes for your continued success, I am Sincerely yours, (Sgd.) RAMON MAGSAYSAY ZAMBOANGA MORE BERMUDA GRASS FOR THE RIZAL PARK Rotarians at the Rizal Park started planting Bermuda grass during their first meeting last Sunday, Aug. 28, 1954. Orchids for "Ayong" Pulido and Ann Maring, "Sal" Fangon and Ann Leoning, "Iko" Aseniero and Ann Boring, "Koy" Sevilleno and Ann Oping, "Tony" Mendezona and Ann Irma, "Beriong" Amatong, "Germie" Zapanta, "Tony" Fortugaleza, "Zar" Isip, "Poniong" Delarmente, "Inting" Gaerlan, "Milio" Saguin and Ann Milagring, "Piano" Ramas and his Ann, and "Malx" Sarmiento, who were not only present but also initiated for something tangible in a humble way for the beautification, preservation and to keep green that National shrine.
