Gov. Ben Legarda's monthly letter - The Rotary Balita no. 709 (November 20, 1952)
Description: page 23-25 In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 700 to 723Summary: "HELP IN A HURRY" "When a devastating hurricane struck the Fiji Islands earlier this year the Rotary Clubs of the 39th and 40th Districts came to the assistance of the Rotary Club of Suva, Fiji with heartwarming promptness. The clubs did not wait for an appeal for help; they forwarded donations of cash and clothing as quickly as possible." Shouldn't we follow this example by doing our bit for the area devastated by the recent typhoons "Trix" and "Wilma", especially Legaspi, Naga, Calapan, San Pablo, Batangas and Tacloban which were hardest hit and where there are Rotary clubs? PRESIDENT BRU'S REPRESENTATIVE Mr. O.D.A. "Ollie '' Oberg of Sydney, Australia has been named personal representative of President "Bru" Brunnier at our District Conference which will be held in February, from the 19th to 21st. "Ollie" is a past District Governor and has served on several R.I. Committees and is especially well qualified to serve in this capacity. A picture of "Ollie" was sent to our indefatigable Tony Anton, General Chairman of the Conference Committee who immediately made prints for distribution to all the clubs of District 48. At this writing you should have received your copy. TWO DISTRICT ASSEMBLIES An ad interim provision for the fiscal year 1952-53 (Enactment No. 52-10) with regard to the chronology of the District Assembly and the District Conference provides for two District Assemblies during the term 1952-53. The incumbent District Governor is expected to hold two District Assemblies, one at the beginning of his term of office and one towards the end of his term in April or May of 1953. However, due to conditions obtaining in this District where members would have to go through a lot of expense to attend three separate district functions, the holding of a District Assembly for the Presidents and Secretaries of District 48th who took office on July 1952 was waived by the Board of R.I. on September, 1952. The second District Assembly, of the Presidents and Secretaries elect of the clubs in the District which will be held in April 1953 will proceed as scheduled. TINGTING FAELNAR IN FUNDS COMMITTEE On October 1st, Past Governor Tingting Faelnar was appointed third member of the District Funds Committee and he shall hold office for three (3) years beginning 1952. The other members of the Committee, are Past Governors Nanding Manale and Emy Javier.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
