President Baker coming to the Philippines in December
In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 775 to 799Summary: Again this year the Rotary Clubs in the Philippines will be visited by the President of Rotary International. What was up to now a possibility has become a reality and President Baker has arranged to visit the Philippines for four days before his return home from Australia next December. The news have been given to Governor Danding in a letter received last week from Dwight W. Patterson, Head, Western Hemisphere Department. The pertinent paragraph of this letter says: "Rotary International President A. Z. Baker and his wife Cornelia are planning to return from the Pacific Regional Conference Committee meeting in Australia by way of the Philippines and intend to spend several days in your district. "The attached itinerary indicates that they will arrive in Manila at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, 9 December. If the airlines make any changes in their flight times, we will let you know immediately. "Obviously President A. Z. is interested in meeting as many Rotarians as possible, and both he and Cornelia are looking forward with a great deal of anticipation to seeing you again and to spending some time in your district. "Karl Krueger, editor of The Rotarian will accompany them. He will be recording information about Rotary in the Philippines while they are in your district. He is travelling as journalist, photographer and recorder of events, scenes and people, and I know President A. Z. will appreciate your making arrangements for Karl as a working member of the group, so he will have the opportunity to observe as much about Rotary as possible while in your district." At the receipt of this letter, Governor Danding has immediately started to arrange the schedules of Mr. Baker's visit and has tentatively decided on a program for the President of Rotary International to visit with as many Rotarians of the District as possible. For the Balita editors it is also a pleasure to know that Karl Krueger, editor of The Rotarian, will accompany the President. We are looking forward to these interesting Rotary events of which we will offer complete information in the coming issues.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
