Governor Danding keeps busy schedule
In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 775 to 799Summary: Every Friday, Governor Danding takes off from Manila to attend his scheduled visits to the Clubs. So far, no interruptions have been observed since he started his tiresome weekend trips and by this time, the Governor of the District has seen twenty clubs, held as many club assemblies and delivered as many speeches. On September 9 and 10 Governor Danding visited San Fernando and Dagupan. Last week, was Malolos and Cabanatuan. This week, Lucena, Batangas, and Lipa. Everywhere he went the Rotarians of the district have shown him the customary courtesy and have arranged for Governor Danding celebrations, dinners, banquets, balls, which have helped the Governor to forget that he has to spend all his weekends travelling and that he still has a long way to go. The pictures shown in these pages are just a sample of what has happened all over the Islands during the Governor's trips. In Cotabato, a few weeks ago, after having the club assembly and address the Rotarians and Rotary Anns at the dinner in his honor, Danding was entertained by so many Rotarians in different houses that he felt overwhelmed by the demonstrations of Rotary fellowship. Among his hosts during the visit to Cotabato was the popular Past President, Ramon Pimentel and his wife, Sytang, who displayed the usual hospitality in the best tradition of the Cotabato Rotarian. Last month, Governor Danding also found time to visit Baguio and discuss with other Rotarians the forthcoming Rotary District Conference, scheduled for the late part of February, 1956. With Governor Danding went to Baguio Acting President of the Manila Club Juan J. Carlos, Treasurer K. C. Wu and Rotarian Tony Anton. The Governor held several conferences with the Baguio Rotarians headed by past Governor Nanding Manalo, President Abe Abellera and Secretary Mars Contemprate. During this conference, the following tentative committee assignments were noted and approved: Conference Chairman - Nanding Manalo Conference Secretary - J. H. Yanzon Conference Treasurer - Vic Yee Ex-officio member of all conference host club committees - Abe Abellera Attendance Promotion and Publicity Committee Chairman - Gus Resurreccion Alternate - Tony Anton Boy Scouts Committee Chairman - Vic de Guia Decorations Committee Chairman - Ireneo Santos General Entertainment Committee Chairman - Tony Anton Ladies Entertainment Committee Chairman - Angie Abellera Balls and Meeting Places Committee Chairman - Gus Resurreccion Printing Committee Chairman - Mars Contemprate Reception Committee Chairman - Abe Abellera Alternate - Conrado Benitez Members - Presidents of Laoag, Vigan, Bangued, Dagupan, Tarlac, Cabanatuan, San Fernando, and Malolos. Also, all past and incumbent presidents of Inner Wheel Clubs of all the above listed clubs. Conference Sergeant-at-Arms - Ikong Reyes Other important preliminary resolutions taken during this conference were the following: 1. The District Governor suggested, and the suggestion was approved, to hold homeside socials during the Conference, with Baguio Rotarians as well as Manila Rotarians with residences in Baguio to act as hosts. It was tentatively agreed that each host will act to about 20 to 25 delegates. Nanding Manalo announced that he would be entertaining at a separate occasion all Rotarians who belong to the medical profession, hence his inability to act as host for a homeside social. 2. It was agreed to have a Hall of Friendships. most likely the Lobby of the Pines Hotel. The place would be appropriately decorated. 3. The Conference Chairman will submit a budget. Tentatively, the registration fees were fixed as follows: P20.00 for all Rotarians; P10.00 for all Rotary Anns and children of 14 years or over; Free Children below 14 years. 4. The District Governor will have the District Conference fee of P5.00 per Rotarian available for Conference expenses of the host club, upon itemization provided that a portion of the District Conference Fund will be used by the District Governor as pre-District Conference expenses. 5. It was decided that the souvenir program will be without advertisements. The cost of same will be for account of the District Conference Fund. 6. It was stressed that the reception, entertainment, and hospitality to delegates will be such as to be adequate and appropriate from time of arrival to time of departure of such delegates. 7. Proper halls, conference rooms and meeting places will be provided either at the Pines Hotel or the Baguio Country Club. 8. It was agreed that whenever feasible the breakfasts and/or luncheons, except when the R.I. President's personal representative shall deliver his address, shall be held in groups of about 100 each, to permit closer relations with: (a) The R.I. President's personal representative (b) The District Governor (c) The past international officers in District 48. 9. It was decided to provide the District Governor and the District Governor-Nominee with office space at the Pines Hotel where they can meet delegates and where Rotary matters may be taken up. 10. It was agreed that finances permitting, a Conference Bulletin will be issued daily during the entire period of the Conference. 11. Each club in the District will be urged by the District Governor to appoint an "On to Baguio" chairman who will stimulate interest in the conference among the members of his club. 12. A poster publicizing the conference will be prepared for display at the meetings of each club in the district. Many other details were threshed out at this meeting and the Governor was assured of the immediate realization of the plans by the host Club to insure for February, 1956, the best conference ever held in our district.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
