A hand in the future
In: Rotary Club of Manila. The Rotary Balita No. 775 to 799Summary: This year 128 Rotary districts are eligible to select candidates for Rotary Foundation Fellowships. The successful candidates will travel to another country for a year of study in 1956-57 where they will serve also as ambassadors for strengthened international friendships. Every Rotary club in these 128 districts has a hand in the future when it is making its selection of a well-qualified applicant for a Rotary Foundation Fellowship. The importance of giving adequate time to each step of the selection process cannot be emphasized too much. Governors of eligible districts are urged to remind their clubs of the important steps to be followed which are described in detail in the manual of Rotary Foundation Fellowship information and in the folder of instructions and information for candidates sent to their clubs: NOW - Club president studies the background information with care. - Club president calls a meeting of The Rotary Foundation committee and makes certain that every member is completely familiar with the procedures for selecting and sponsoring a candidate. - Hold a club meeting at which operation of The Rotary Foundation program is outlined in detail so that club members can help in suggesting the names of young men and women who have the necessary qualifications. - The club committee investigates all potential candidates and interviews them personally. - The club committee reaches unanimous agreement upon one applicant who has the required qualifications. - The club committee sends notice of such action to the board of directors of the club. - The club's final selection must be evidenced by endorsement of applicant. WELL IN ADVANCE OF 15 November, 1955 - Ask the applicant to prepare the application form and give him or her a copy of the folder of information and instructions to applicants. NOT LATER THAN 15 November, 1955 - The application form and all required attachments must be completed and returned to the club committee by the applicant. NOT LATER THAN 1 December, 1955 - A letter of endorsement signed by the club president and secretary, together with the complete application, must reach the district governor.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
