The Rotary Balita No. 775 to 799Summary: A university training is an invaluable aid in personal development in the enjoyment of a more harmonious life, and in the search for truth, said Dr. Harlan Hatcher, president of the University of Michigan, in his speech before the Manila Rotary club Jan. 12. Dr. Hatcher said that the University of Michigan is educating its students by teaching them how to develop their own personalities and exploit their latent resources. "In other words," he declared, "we are teaching the student to find himself before tackling any academic subjects." Dr. Harlan Hatcher, president of the University of Michigan, told Manila Rotarians of the singular achievements of his university in the field of education. Behind, left to right: Club President C. Benitez, US Ambassador Homer Ferguson and FEU President Teodoro Evangelista. Benitez in his re-marks cited several Michiganites who have had something to do with the Philippines, starting from Dean C. Worcester to Homer Ferguson.
